We transform used oil into High-Quality Lubricants

Why Mozambique is Strategically Ideal for a Regional Lube Refinery

Mozambique’s strategic location along the southeast coast of Africa, with access to the Indian Ocean, makes it an ideal logistics and energy hub. Its ports—such as Maputo, Beira, and Nacala—are key gateways not only for Mozambique but also for landlocked neighbors like Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zambia. These trade corridors present a huge opportunity for setting up a lube refinery with regional reach.

The Southern African market consumes millions of liters of lubricants annually. Most of these are imported from Europe, the Middle East, or Asia. Mozambique, with its established infrastructure and improving road and rail systems, can serve as a regional lubricant production and distribution center.

Additionally, the country’s growing oil and gas exploration activities present synergy. By developing refining capabilities locally, Mozambique can process used oil domestically while attracting partners interested in blending and packaging lubricants for the broader SADC (Southern African Development Community) region.

The lube refinery would create a ripple effect across the economy—boosting transport, warehousing, packaging, and retail jobs—while also reducing the costs and emissions associated with importing lubricants from overseas. Strategic location equals strategic advantage.
